Pilates at our Lilydale Clinic
What is it, what are the benefits for you health and how our does approach differ?
Pilates is a strength based exercise program with a focus on control, using correct muscle activation. These exercises concentrate on the deep muscles that are required to stabilise the body during an exercise, commonly referred to as the “core” Pilates movements are more flowing than typical weight based strength exercises and have a strong emphasis on correct posture.
Both the larger and smaller muscles groups of the body are targeted during these exercises, which play an important role in joint stability and improving muscular imbalances.
Our exercises are low impact and are effective in increasing whole body strength and flexibility. The initial focus lies in improving core activation and stability, progressing to become more dynamic and function in order to maintain stability, whilst using larger muscles groups.
With a focus on breathing, concentration, control and precise movements, this approach is suitable to people of all ages.
In conjunction with services in Osteopathy, Naturopathy and Nutrition, we can offer a holistic approach to your healthcare and healing process.
